Frequently Asked Questions

For depositing your data see our quick guide here.

TRR170-DB is an open access data repository for archiving and sharing FAIR research data. When uploading your files to TRR170-DB, it processes the files and creates a preservation-friendly (.tab or tab delimited) open format of the file. Your data file is still available in its original format. Select the download button beside the file and choose “download original format” to access and download the file in its original format.

Proceed with all changes you need to do. Then submit your dataset for review. The TRR170-DB administrators will review your changes and publish your dataset. The original DOI will not change but the version number will add up. All changes to your dataset are reported under the versioning tab in your dataset record.

Yes, any file format is accepted. When your data are stored in TRR170-DB the original formats get ingested to open formats. See more information on formats here

Compressed files in .zip format are unpacked automatically. If the number of files inside are more than a set limit (1,000 by default), you will get an error message and the .zip file will upload as is.

Zip the file tree (folder) structure before uploading.  TRR170-DB will keep track of this structure. A file’s location within this folder structure is displayed in the file metadata as the File Path. When you download the contents of the dataset, this folder structure will be preserved and files will appear in their original locations.

No, you choose to what extent your data will be available. When you store a dataset, always the title, description, and data citation (generated automatically by the system), and any metadata that describes the dataset are public. However, you can restrict access to your files individually, and decide who you want to grant permissions to access the data files. More information is here.

The maximum file size to upload is 2GB. However, you can upload as many files as you want to a single dataset.

A Dataverse is a container for your datasets such as the Dataverse 'TRR170 Archive'. Dataverses are created by the TRR170-DB administrators' team. You then add datasets to a selected Dataverse.
